EMS Training

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division offers courses and certification training that allows students to:

  • Become proficient and/or earn certification to start a new career.
  • Learn a new skill or advance current skills.
  • Achieve certification renewal.

Classes are offered in a traditional, on-campus setting or a hybrid format – online with on-campus meetings. We can customize our training for providers.

BC3 EMS Training Programs are accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

Train to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and begin your career with a Butler County EMS service.

EMR classes are the first level of EMS Certification that is used widely in fire departments, manufacturing and industry. Students will get 72 hours of online and classroom training in the initial management of situations that include personal safety, scene safety, patient assessment, Basic Life Support (CPR) and initial stabilization for both medical and trauma patients until help arrives. This class will prepare the student for EMS Certification with Pennsylvania and a certificate from the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT).

Our 184-hour EMT classes are offered in a hybrid format to provide the foundational knowledge to access the EMS system and entry level work with a licensed BLS or ALS EMS Service. You weekly class-work and lab session are designed to get you ready for the EMS certification exams in the following areas.

  • Personal safety and wellbeing
  • Scene management
  • Basic life support (CPR)
  • Patient assessment and vital signs
  • Medical emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Trauma and bleeding control
  • Shock management
  • Medication administration

The Hybrid Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) program will provide the student with knowledge and skills of advanced patient assessment and treatment of the sick and injured persons in the community. This program will combine many disciplines of learning including, classroom, internet, simulation and clinical aspects of education to provide the student with many opportunities to excel within the program and the community.
