(Butler, PA) Jaxon Salata fired a career-low 73 as a Butler County Community College golfer and finished as medalist for the first time, and teammate Parker Worsley placed second overall with a 76 as the Pioneers’ men’s team moved to 5-2 with victories Friday.
BC3 defeated Westmoreland County Community College 311-321 and the Community College of Allegheny County 311-349 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler.
Salata and Worsley are graduates of Butler Senior High School.
The four lowest scores of golfers on each squad are totaled to arrive at a team score.
Salata’s previous career low for BC3 was a 75 shot 13 fall and spring matches ago in September 2024 at Glengarry Golf Links, Latrobe.
Worsley’s score Friday was his lowest since a 75 shot 17 matches ago in September 2024 at Lake Arthur Golf Club.
Mason Phillips was third for BC3 with a season-low 80 and tied for fourth with 82s were Mitchell Covert and Jeremy Scheidt.
BC3’s Ellis Rae shot a season-low 82; Bodie Spohn, an 88 and Gannon Brown, a 90.
Noah Dubyak, Westmoreland County Community College, and Joe Duttine, Community College of Allegheny County, led their squads with 79s and tied for third overall behind Salata and Worsley.
Bryn Baluh, Westmoreland County Community College, was medalist in a women’s scrimmage against BC3 with a 97.
The Pioneers’ Taylor Voloch shot a career-low 98 and Leah McClellan, a 115.
Spohn, Brown and McClellan are also graduates of Butler High; Phillips and Scheidt, of Knoch; Covert, of Lincoln in Ellwood City; Rae, of North Catholic; and Voloch, of Moniteau.
BC3’s next match is Sept. 26 at North Park Golf Course, Allison Park.
