(Butler, PA) Sarah Lucas and Mackenzie Kurtz had season-high performances Friday night and Addison Say tied hers as the 13th-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match in defeating Pennsylvania Highlands Community College and moving to 11-2.
Taylor Simon led BC3 with 18 digs and Madison Nosel with 14 of the Pioneers’ 42 kills in a 25-14, (24-26), 25-18, 25-8 victory in the Field House on BC3’s main campus in Butler Township.
Lucas had six of the Pioneers’ season-high 14 service aces and Kurtz three solo blocks for BC3, which was ranked No. 13 among 86 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III programs in a Week 5 poll released Sept. 29.
Say had 34 assists for a third time this season.
BC3’s program has been ranked in the Top 15 in Division III of the National Junior College Athletic Association in 42 of 46 polls dating to Oct. 4, 2021, including the past 23 in a row.
Lucas had 14 digs and Nosel and Summer Haney nine each. Emmy Fisher and Kurtz each had eight kills for a BC3 squad that has had 40 or more in five matches this season.
Pennsylvania Highlands is 5-8.
Lucas and Simon are defensive specialists and graduates of Butler Senior High School; Kurtz is a middle hitter and Knoch graduate; Say, a setter and opposite hitter, Keystone; Nosel, an outside hitter, Warren; Fisher, an opposite hitter, Seneca Valley; and Haney, a defensive specialist, Laurel.
