When will I know if I'm accepted?
BC3 has an open enrollment policy. If you apply and have either a high school diploma or G.E.D., you will be accepted. On average, you will receive an acceptance letter one to two weeks after submitting an application.
BC3 also offers four selective enrollment programs. They are: Nursing, Physical Therapy Assistant, Medical Assistant and Massage Therapy. Nursing and Physical Therapy Assistant require a separate admissions packet. Processing applications to selective admissions programs generally takes longer due to the evaluation that is necessary. If a student is not accepted into a selective enrollment program, he or she can still enroll at the college and take courses to strengthen chances of acceptance into that program.

Do I still need to apply if I'm only taking a summer course?
Yes, whether you are taking one class or intending to be a full time student, you must complete a BC3 application. The $25 application fee is a one time only, non-refundable fee.

Can I get help with scheduling classes?
New students are advised by academic counselors using placement test results and proper course selection for their first college semester. For each subsequent semester, students (who are meeting academic requirements) can choose to meet with departmental faculty advisors or academic counselors to assess academic progress and to approve further course selections.

Are my credits earned transferable?
Yes, BC3 credits are transferable. However, it is in the student's best interest to work with BC3's transfer counselor and representatives of the school where you plan to attend after BC3. BC3 hosts a Transfer Day every semester where representatives from four year colleges and universities come to campus to speak with prospective students. Also, various local schools (SRU, Clarion, Geneva, etc.) are on campus multiple times each semester to answer questions from prospective students.

Are my credits earned at a previous school transferable to BC3?
Students at Butler County Community College may receive credit for graded courses taken at most other accredited, degree-granting institutions. The Director of Records and Registration in consultation with the V.P. for Academic Affairs and deans, will review incoming transfer of credits. For courses to be accepted in transfer, they must be listed on a college transcript with a grade of A, B, or C. Transcripts are evaluated once a student schedules classes. College-level work will be granted transfer credit where applicable to the student's program.

Pattie Bajuszik, Director of Admissions
I have worked at BC3 since 1991. I have been employed as an English tutor, the Tutoring Coordinator, and Coordinator for the College Within the High School program. In 1998 I moved to Admissions and became the Director in 2004. I have a BA in Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science from Carlow. Married to my college sweetheart Joe, we have three adult children and three grandkids. Daughter Julie took summer classes here while getting her degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State and both sons are Butler County Community College graduates. Andy received a Bachelors in Business Management from SRU and Brady has a degree in Education from Clarion. We continue to support BC3 students through two family funded scholarships. Andy and Brady sponsor the Bajuszik Brothers Scholarship for Knoch High School graduates who attend BC3 immediately after high school. Joe and I support a scholarship for a student tutor in our Academic Center for Enrichment.
Sean Carroll,

I began in the Admissions Office in August of 2004 after over four years in Student Life/Athletics. As part of my duties in Admissions, I evaluate all applicants to the selective programs of PTA, Massage Therapy and Medical Assisting. After several years in Retail, I decided it was time for a change. I started at BC3 three and a half years ago, after attending the New Choices/New Options program. I worked in the Office of Records and Registration for two and a half years and have been in the Admissions Office for one year.
